Good Day,
I’m writing from Guangzhou, during CIFF. I’m not exactly sure how many times I’ve been here, but guessing somewhere between 21 and 22. Much has changed over the years here in China, and in our industry. On this trip, our new engineer, Rick Behnke is accompanying me. This is not Rick’s first trip to China, but it is with Ivars USA.
As we wind this 2-week trip down, Rick mentioned something that brings clarity to what this is all about. It’s relationships. Rick was amazed at how many people know Ivars USA, who we are, and what we do. We met with dozens of suppliers and friends this week. We toured numerous factories alone or with key clients who are also here for the Fair.
The value of who we are to me, is directly related to our relationships. Family, friends, suppliers, customers, associates, etc… Spending two weeks in meetings, dinners, trains, planes, taxis, and cars with our suppliers and customers is hard work, but is extremely rewarding. Over 25-years of working in this industry is rewarding, primarily due to the friendships new and old. It’s hard work, but it’s fun.
